Question

Answer

What are Public Map Links?

Public Map Links allow fleet managers to share a live, read-only view of a vehicle group (and optional landmarks) with people outside their organization, without requiring a login. These links can be sent to customers, partners, or used on office displays.

Who has access to Public Map Links?

Only users with the Advanced Admin add-on (previously Enterprise) will have access.

Where can users create and manage these links?

– Create a Public Map Link from the Portal Map Page by selecting a vehicle group.

– Create and manage links in the Admin: Vehicle Group tab.

– View which vehicle groups already have an active shared link.

Can a user share multiple links for the same vehicle group?

No. Each vehicle group can have one public link. This link can be used repeatedly, but users cannot create multiple separate links for the same group.

Can multiple vehicle groups be included in a single map?

Not at this time. Users can only share one vehicle group per Public Map Link.

What kind of data is visible on the public map?

– Real-time locations of the vehicles in the selected group
– Optional landmark groups (e.g., job sites, yards)
– Simplified UI without portal-level features
– No login is required, but viewers cannot interact with the map beyond zoom/pan

Are there any planned enhancements?

Yes, several enhancements are under consideration for future iterations:

– Allow users to copy embeddable code to add a Public Map to their website.
– Share a map of a single vehicle
– Set expiration dates for links
– Add color-coded trails based on recency
– View PTO, maintenance, or input status
– Define active hours for link visibility
– View an audit log of who created or edited links

What should I know about public visibility?

The maps are public-facing and do not require authentication.

You, the customer, are responsible for the data you share. We do not control or limit access to a shared link once it’s created.

Can I still use Customer Sites in Classic?

Yes. This feature will remain active in Classic for the time being.
