The Club Settings tab in the dashboard allows you to make changes to the entire club feature in your community; set its visibility, change what it is called, make changes to management and access settings for individual clubs, manage the features or menu options within clubs, configure club announcement emails, control whether social sharing icons appear in the club detail page banner, and update how each club appears in search results and link previews.
Clubs are now available in all community dashboards. By default, each community can build 8 chapters and 4 interest groups to start. If you're scaling your clubs and need more options, reach out to the Gradual team.
Club Feature Visibility
This setting toggles the visibility of the module on or off in the community. If the toggle is 'off' the Clubs module will not appear in the community from the main menu, and if it is toggled 'on' any visible clubs will appear in the community from the main menu.
Note: The menu item on the front end in your community will only appear once there is at least one visible club in your dashboard.
💡Pro Tip: Keep the club feature 'off' and hidden while you are building and crafting the clubs, and then turn it 'on' when you're ready to launch this aspect of your community.
Module Name
You can customize the name of the module across the community and in the dashboard. The module name will be displayed on the main navigation bar of your community and will replace the name "Clubs" in other areas of the community and in the dashboard.
The name can be no more than 10 characters.
Club Management Settings
Configure the club’s management permissions for the club collaborators at the club admin level. This admin dashboard setting allows or blocks the club admins from assigning, removing, and changing club managers and club editors who are also granted permission in their club(s).
Grant Club Admins one of three levels of management settings:
💡Pro Tip: Grant club collaborators access and permission to make updates, create content, and host events with the club via Permissions. Learn more about how to assign these permissions and what these club collaborators can do here.
In-club features
Define the features or modules clubs can use and determine if they can customize the features' visibility within the defined scope.
Customize the features available for your clubs to add, create, and display in their clubs by selecting the 'Edit' button and toggling on or off each of the features.
Settings here affect the admin dashboard and the club collaborator dashboard. Features that are disabled here cannot be turned on in any dashboard - admin or club collaborator.
Member Count
You have the ability toggle on/off member and event counts at the club and interest group level in the club settings tab.
Social Sharing Icons
You can toggle whether social sharing icons appear in the club detail page banner across all clubs.
When this setting is turned on, the social sharing icons will appear in the banner area of club detail pages. When it is turned off, those icons are hidden from the banner preview in the dashboard and from all club detail pages in the community.
Club Feature Controls
Decide if each club can customize the visibility of the above features from within their General Info settings.
If you want different groups of clubs to have different customization permissions, assign those clubs to different Club Setting Groups.
Each setting group has its own feature customization settings. Clubs inherit the settings from the group they are assigned to.
If a feature is allowed within a setting group, dashboard admins and club admins for clubs in that group can control the visibility of that feature from within their club settings. If it is not allowed, those clubs cannot change the feature’s visibility.
A common use case is when different types of clubs need different feature settings. For example, regional chapters may be allowed to customize their club experience, while interest groups follow a more standardized setup. Create separate Club Setting Groups and assign each club to the appropriate group.
Club Setting Groups
Use Club Setting Groups to create different feature configurations for different sets of clubs.
Every community includes a Standard setting group, and all new clubs are assigned to it by default.
You can create additional setting groups, customize the feature settings for each group, and assign clubs to the appropriate group. Any changes made to a setting group immediately apply to every club assigned to that group.
Club Announcement Emails
Community admins can control whether club admins can send announcement emails featuring newly published events and content from their clubs.
From Club Settings > Club Autonomy, turn on Allow clubs to send announcement email to allow club admins to create and send these emails.
When this setting is turned off, club admins can still view the Emails Announcement page, but they cannot create new announcement emails or send existing drafts.
Changes to Allow clubs to send announcement email are recorded in the community’s Audit Log.
Customize the Club Announcement Email template
Community admins can customize the email template clubs use when sharing new events and content with their members.
From Club Settings > Club Autonomy, select Announcement email template next to Allow clubs to send announcement email.
You can open and customize the template even when Allow clubs to send announcement email is turned off. This allows you to prepare the email design and messaging before making announcement emails available to club admins.
The customized template applies to all clubs in the community.
Preview and test the template
The Club Announcement Email page displays the current email subject and design.
Select Preview to review the template or Send Test Email to send a test version to a member email address.
Event and content cards use sample information when previewing or testing the community template. Club admins select the actual events and content when they create an announcement email.
Edit the Club Announcement Email template
To customize the template:
Open the Club Announcement Email page.
Select Edit Design.
Update the email subject or customize the email body.
Add or update text, buttons, images, and dividers as needed.
Use {Club Name} in the subject line or email text where you want the receiving club’s name to appear automatically.
Select Preview to review the updated template.
Select Save when the template is ready.
The New Events and New Content sections are built into the template and cannot be removed, duplicated, or added as new sections. These sections are populated with the events and content selected by the club admin when they create an announcement email.
Note: {Club Name} automatically displays the name of the club using the announcement template. If a club’s name is updated, previews and test emails use the current club name.
Apply template changes
When you save changes to the Club Announcement Email template, the updated template becomes the default for new club announcement emails created after the change is saved.
Announcement emails that were already created keep the template they were created with. If a club admin chooses Revert to default while editing an existing announcement email, the email is updated to the community’s latest Club Announcement Email template.
Revert to the Gradual default template
To remove community-level customizations and restore the original Club Announcement Email template, select Revert to default in the email editor.
You’ll be asked to confirm before the current template is replaced.
If you leave the editor with unsaved changes, you’ll also be asked to confirm before those changes are discarded.
Club SEO Settings
Club admins and club managers can update how an individual club appears in search engines and when shared externally. This setting is available for all club types, including chapters and interest groups.
From the club’s Settings area, open Club SEO Settings to customize the following:
Page Title
By default, the page title uses the current club name. You can enter a custom title or restore the default club name at any time. Titles can be up to 100 characters.
Description
By default, the description uses the club introduction. You can enter a custom description or restore the default club introduction. Descriptions can be up to 160 characters. If this field is left empty, the community description will be used instead.
Social Sharing Image
You can use the default image or upload a custom image for sharing.Default: uses the club cover image when one is available. If the club does not have a cover image, Gradual uses the community social sharing image.
Custom Upload: uses an uploaded image instead of the default image selection. The recommended image size is 800 x 450.
Saved SEO settings apply to the club page using this priority order: custom title first, then club name; custom description first, then club introduction; custom sharing image first, then the default image logic above.
Editors can view this area but cannot make changes.
