Management Dashboard General Navigation User Guide

This guide will cover navigation and common uses of the Academic Program Management Dashboard.

1. Start by opening the Portfolio Table.

3. The Portfolio Table provides you with an overview of data from both the PES Markets and the PES Economics and Outcomes modules. This view shows you an overview of your entire portfolio of programs.

7. The data under the PES Markets header provides an overview of the performance of this program in your selected Market.

The data here includes:


​Market Sort - This totals the percentile ranks of each PES Market metric to draw programs with high market opportunity to the top of the screen

Google % Change - The year-over-year change in relevant Google search volume

New Enrollment - The volume of new student enrollment in the past year

New Enrollment % Change - The year-over-year change in new student enrollment

Median Program Size - The median number of completions for programs in this market

Median Program Size % Change - The change in median program size year-over-year

The data under the PES Markets header provides an overview of the performance of this program in your selected Market.

8. The data under the Contemporary University header provides an overview of the performance of this program based on your program economics data. Please note that this header will reflect the name of your institution.

The data here includes:


​Enrollment - The unique headcount of students enrolled in this program at your institution

Enrollment Year-Over-Year Unit Change - The unit change in your program's enrollment

Enrollment Year-Over-Year % Change - The % change in your program's enrollment

DFW Rate - The % of students who received a grade of D, F, or withdrew from courses

Graduates - The count of completions in your program

Graduates Year-Over-Year Unit Change - The unit change in completions for your program

Graduates Year-Over-Year % Change - The % change in completions for your program

Discount Rate - The average institutional discount rate of students in this program

Contribution - The total direct instructional contribution from this program

Contribution % Change - The year-over-year % change in contribution for this program

Cost per SCH - The instructional cost per student credit hour for this program

Cost SCH Actual - Benchmark - The difference in cost per SCH between your program and benchmark data

The data under the Contemporary University header provides an overview of the performance of this program based on your program economics data. Please note that this header will reflect the name of your institution.

9. To select a program click on the name in the Program column.

11. Now, click the "Go" button or use the Program Review drop-down menu to move to the Program Dashboard.

12. The Program Dashboard provides you with data on your selected program from PES Markets, PES Economics and Outcomes, as well as inputs from key stakeholders about the program's fit with the institution's mission and the goals and actions being pursued.

13. In the top left-hand corner, you can see the program review status for this program. This indicates the status chosen by your institution, and is not algorithmically determined.

14. The Size graph shows you enrollment and completions trends across the years of available data.

15. The demographics chart shows you the demographic breakdown for this program by race/ethnicity and gender. This data comes from your economics app.

16. The Markets section in the middle of the screen shows you how this program ranks overall in the market and by Student Demand, Employment, and Competitive Intensity.

This is similar to the Program Rank tab in the Markets app which helps to show you how this program compares to all other programs at this award level and in the selected geographic market.

17. The data in the Margins section shows you a waterfall chart of the program economics of this program. You can toggle between total and per SCH values.

This is very similar to the Scorecard tab in the Economics app. You can see how these KPI's change year-over-year.

18. The Academics section provides more details from your Economics app. This includes sections on the Program Profile, Student Progress, and Outcomes.

You can see data for the three most recent years across each metric and the year-over-year change for each.

19. Below the table, you have several options to filter this data. You can filter by Gender, Pell Status, as well as IPEDS Race/Ethnicity. This allows you to zoom in on particular student populations within this program.

20. The table in the middle is where you can read how the program fits with your institution's mission. This is input from key stakeholders at your institution.

21. To add notes to the dashboard, click on the Input Form under the Program Review drop-down menu.

22. On the Y-Axis you can select various metrics from the PES Economics and Outcomes system.

You can choose between totals of Net Revenue, Total Cost, Total Contribution, as well as per student credit hour (SCH).

25. You can hover over one of the bubbles to see the program, as well as your chosen metrics.

31. Now, you will see a graph of your current portfolio of programs. This allows you to quickly understand the market positioning of your portfolio.
