1. Start by navigating to the Student Demand tab from your Gray DI Hub.
2. Click on the dashboard titled "Program Enrollment" to open the dashboard.
These dashboards provide you with the opportunity to take a deep dive into each of the data sources that Gray DI aggregates within the PES Markets system. This guide will focus on the Program Enrollment Dashboard.
The data within this dashboard comes from National Student Clearinghouse and shows you geographic enrollment data based on the student's last known address.
3. Click on the Trends tab at the top of your screen.
The Trends tab is a great place to start since it provides you with the most flexibility in order to zoom in on data in whatever way you need to.
4. At the bottom of the screen, you will see the options for what metric to graph on the X axis.
5. Click on New Student Enrollment.
This guide will use New Student Enrollment as an example, but all of the same steps could be applied to Total Enrollment if that is the metric you are interested in.
6. The Y axis options are listed on the left-hand side of the screen.
The Trends tab allows you to look for growth. The Y axis options allow you to choose the timeframe from which you will be reviewing, you can choose either Year-over year, 2-year, or 4-year growth metrics.
7. This graph shows you size on the X axis (number of new student enrollments) and growth on the Y axis (in this case, Year-over-year Unit Growth).
Points that appear farther to the right-hand side have a larger volume, for example on the graph below, Bachelor's degrees have the largest volume of new student enrollment.
8. Click on the award level you would like to review further. In this case, click on Bachelor's degree.
When you hover over a point, you can see the total volume of new student enrollment, in this case 1,720,536 new student enrollments. As well as how that number has changed over time, in this case, Bachelor's degrees have seen a decrease of 5,570 new student enrollments year over year.
9. Click on the check mark to confirm your selection.
10. Above the graph, you will see the different options for how to view data.
This allows you to start your search using any option you would like.
Note: We often suggest starting with a broad view of the data, then drilling down for more detail.

11. Click on State.
12. Now, the graph shows you how each state has trended year-over-year in terms of bachelor's degree new student enrollments.
13. Click on the state you would live to explore in more detail. In this case, we will zoom in on the state of North Carolina.
When you hover over a point you can see the total volume of new student enrollment, in this case 47,687 new student enrollments. As well as how that number has changed over time, in this case, Bachelor's degree enrollments in the state of North Carolina have seen a decrease of 3,167 new student enrollments year over year.
14. Click on the check mark to confirm your selection.
15. Click on 2-Digit CIP.
16. Now, you can see how each 2-Digit CIP code has trended year-over-year in terms of new student enrollments into bachelor's degree programs within the state of North Carolina.
17. Click on the 2-Digit CIP code you would like to investigate further. In this guide we will zoom in on the 51's.
When you hover over a point you can see the total volume of new student enrollment, in this case 3,551 new student enrollments into Health Professions and Related Programs (51's) Bachelors programs in the state of North Carolina. As well as how that number has changed over time, in this case, the 51's have decreased by 446 new student enrollments year-over-year.
18. Click on the check mark to confirm your selection.
19. Click on 4-Digit CIP.
20. This view allows us to look within our selected 2-Digit CIP code.
In this case, we can see which 4-Digit CIP codes within the 51's have seen growth year-over-year in terms of Bachelors degree new student enrollments in the state of North Carolina.
21. Click on the 4-Digit CIP code you want to open up in more detail. In this guide we will use 51.22 Public Health as an example.
When you hover over a point you can see the total volume of new student enrollment, in this case, 278 new student enrollments into Public Health Bachelors programs in the state of North Carolina. As well as how that number has changed over time, in this case, the 51.22's have decreased by 45 new student enrollments year-over-year.
22. Click on the check mark to confirm your selection
23. Click on 6-Digit CIP
24. This view allows you to see which 6-Digit CIP codes within the 51.22 family have experienced the most growth year-over-year in terms of Bachelor's new student enrollment.
25. Click on the 6-Digit CIP code you want to open up in more detail. In this guide, we will use 51.2207 Public Health Education and Promotion as an example.
When you hover over a point you can see the total volume of new student enrollment, in this case, 146 new student enrollments into Public Health Education and Promotion Bachelors programs in the state of North Carolina. As well as how that number has changed over time, in this case, this program has seen a year-over-year growth of 2 new student enrollments.
26. Click on the check mark to confirm your selection.
27. Click on County.
28. Now you are able to see a breakdown of which counties new student enrollment for this program has grown or shrank year-over-year.
This chart helps us to identify which counties have either the largest volume of new student enrollments in our selected program or which counties have seen the most growth in terms of new student enrollment.

Remember, the data in this dashboard is delineated by the student's last known address.
29. You can click and drag along the axis to highlight and select an area of the graph. In this case, we have selected all of the counties in North Carolina where new student enrollment has grown year-over-year into bachelors of Public Health Education and Promotion programs.
30. Click on the check mark to confirm your selection.
31. Now you've filtered down to a curated list of growing counties in terms of new student enrollment for our selected program.
32. Click on the Overview tab at the top of your screen.
The Overview tab is a great place to see a summary of the data you have filtered for.
33. On the left-hand side of the screen, you will see a map showing the list of counties we identified as growing for this program.
34. The chart at the top of the screen will show you a breakdown by term as well as allow you to see a longer-term trend for this program.
Remember, all of the filters you selected will stay with you as you move through the dashboard.
35. Click on the Term filter.
By default the Overview tab will show you data from the most recent term, you can swap this by selecting the term you are interested in.
36. Select Fall to see data from the most recent Fall term.
37. Click on the check mark to confirm your selection.
38. The right hand side of the screen allows you to view data for our selected term. Select YoY* Unit Growth.
39. Now, you are able to see how each of our selected counties has trended year-over-year in terms of new student enrollments in the Fall term.
You can also select other chart dimensions or measures to view different cuts of the data.
40. Click on the Data Table at the top of your screen.
The data table is a great way to prepare a custom table to be exported.
41. Start by selecting Dimensions on the left-hand side of your screen.
42. Once you have made your selections, click on the check mark to confirm your selections.
43. Now, select the Metrics you are interested in.
44. Once you have made your selections, click on the check mark to confirm your selections.
45. You can click on a column header to sort the table from high to low in that column. For example, click on New Student Enrollment.
46. Now we can see a custom table showing us a breakdown of Bachelor's enrollments into Public Health Education and Promotion by County and Academic Year.
47. To export this data right-click anywhere within the table to open up a menu with additional options.
48. Click on Download as...
49. Click on Data. This will allow you to export the data into an Excel spreadsheet.
