Sometimes you need to take a User, Well, or Facility (Battery / Collection Point / Lease) out of your day-to-day GreaseBook.
You've got two ways, and they're not the same — Deactivate sets it aside and keeps everything; Delete removes it for good.
Nine times out of ten deactivate is what you want, so we start there.
Deactivate (recommended) — marks a User or asset inactive without throwing anything away.
Your history stays (run tickets, gauges, well history, reports), and since you're billed only for active wells, deactivating a well you've sold or shut in takes it off your bill.
And, the deactivated asset is no longer visible in your Overview, Alerts, Facilities tabs or your Production Reports or your Pumpers' app.
Reversible anytime.
1. Open the User or asset in Settings
2. Click the blue Edit button to the right of its name
3. Uncheck the box beneath Enabled (for a well/facility, set its status to inactive)
4. Save
Changed your mind?
Re-check Enabled to bring it back.
Delete (permanent, use with care) — removes the User or asset entirely, and its history goes with it. Can't be undone, so if there's any chance you'll want the records, deactivate instead.
1. Open it in Settings
2. Click Delete
3. Type DELETE (all caps) in the box
4. Click Delete to confirm
Finally, what's the difference between Deleting and Deactivating and a Battery?
Deleting an Asset completely removes all information associated with that Asset from the system.
That said, Deletions are perfect for typos, misconfigurations, or Assets that have been divested from your company.
On the other hand, Deactivating an Asset retains the information in the GreaseBook system in case you ever want to bring it back online.
That said, Deactivations are perfect for Assets that are Temporarily Abandoned or Shut In.
Still not sure which you need? Just holler and we'll help you sort it out.
