What's the difference between a Battery Facility and a Collection Point, you ask?

In short, a Battey Facility is a physical collection point for the processing or transportation of oil, gas, and water prior to being transported out of the field.

Just like a Lease is tracts of land which have been pooled or consolidated for the purpose of drilling oil & gas wells, a Collection Point groups together facilities.

That said, depending on how you choose to design and operate a particular oil field, a Lease / Collection Point might contain more than one Battery Facility within its premise.

To be clear, a Lease is not to be confused with 'Facility Groups'☝🏼

'Facility Groups' are simply a flexible way to allow you to group an acquisition, field, pumper route, high priority vs low priority wells, and/or investors in a more organized fashion (if you'd like, you can read more about 'Facilty Groups' here...)

Setting up a Collection Point is just like setting up a Battery Facility but with one key differentiator: in addition to allocating production back to the Well level you can also allocate production back to each Battery Facility within the Collection Point.

To create a new Collection Point, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Select Settings from Left Navigation bar,

  2. Select Facilities from Top Navigation bar,

  3. Select Add Facilities

  4. Select Collection Point under Facility Type

  5. Click Save and you're all set!

Note: Standard setup allows oil, gas and water to roll forward into the Collection Point from the facilities. Under the settings of the Collection Point you can modify how your Collection Point pools together the sub-facility products.

  • None: Production is tracked directly at the Collection Point by meters for oil, gas and/or water

  • Standard: Production flows from all facilities to the Collection Point and remains read-only

  • Mixed: Production flows from all facilities and also allows for addition of meters for oil, gas and/or water for tracking production directly at the Collection Point

  • Collection Point to Facilities: Tracks production directly at the Collection Point and back allocates it to each battery.

Once you have your Collection Point created, all you need to do is add in sub-facilities, open the Collection Point and click the '+' next to Assigned Facilities.

Side Note: selecting which products to bring forward to the Lease / Collection Point level provides a lot of flexibility around how you allocate, process, and ultimately measure your production.

For example, you could select to send Gas produced from a specific Battery to Lease / Collection Point A while sending the Water produced from that same Battery to Lease / Collection Point B.

This is precisely the reason why we've opted to name this feature 'Lease / Collection Point' as opposed to simply calling it a 'Lease'πŸ™‚

Once you have your Lease / Collection Point setup and assigned Battery Facilities, you can setup any other necessary variables (ex: Users, LACT meters, Custom Variables, Logic Variables) – all which serve as a direct reflection of what's happening at that particular Lease / Collection Point.

Furthermore, you'll be able to view each Lease / Collection Point (with its respective Facilities listed underneath) on the Left Hand Navigation Bar:

Easy enough, let's get to work! πŸ’ͺ
