Declaration of a Foreign Bank Account

As a Green Nation client, your accounts are hosted by Banking Circle in Luxembourg.
Under French tax law, every French tax resident must declare any bank account opened, held, used, or closed abroad during the previous year, even if no transactions occurred on the account.

How to Declare?

  1. Check box 8UU on your tax return form no. 2042 (for year N, pertaining to income received in N-1).

  2. Complete form no. 3916, titled “Declaration by a Resident of an Account Held Abroad.” You can select this form when filing your tax return online at impots.gouv.fr or download it if filing a paper return.

When filling out this form, you will need to provide:

  • Name of the institution: Banking Circle S.A. (for Green Nation)

  • Address: 2 Boulevard de la Foire, L-1528 Luxembourg, Luxembourg

  • Account number: your IBAN

  • Type of account: current account

Penalties for Non-Declaration

Failure to comply can result in a minimum fine of €1,500 per undeclared account, rising up to €10,000 if the account is located in a non-cooperative state or territory.

Need Help?

If you have any questions or need assistance with this procedure, we strongly recommend consulting a tax advisor or contacting the French tax authorities directly through their official website, impots.gouv.fr.
