The last step of the climate strategy is to compensate for your remaining emissions through emission sequestration and avoidance projects that we have selected for you.

The carbon contribution remains an approach to be carried out in parallel with the reduction of emissions, its objective is, as a reminder, to contribute to achieving collective carbon neutrality by 2050. This is in no way a licence to pollute, but rather a contribution for the irreducible emissions due to your activity.

You will find more information on our labelled projects at this address.

How much to contribute?

The carbon contribution makes it possible to finance international emission reduction or sequestration projects. This voluntary financing is essential to respect the trajectories of the Paris Agreement, which aim for Net Zero in 2050 (a state of equilibrium between emissions and their capture by carbon sinks on a monetary scale). This state can only be achieved through a significant reduction in emissions and increase in carbon sinks.

Best practice is to contribute to cover your irreducible carbon emissions, which are estimated at 5-10% of the total emissions before any reduction attempt.

You can allocate this 10% contribution to the scopes in several ways. Firstly, the contribution can only be allocated to emissions of scope 1&2 (1). Secondly, it can be 100% of the scope 1&2 emissions and cover part of the scope 3 emissions (2). Thirdly, it can cover part of the emissions of scope 1&2 and part of scope 3 (3).

🌱 Has the contribution an impact on the carbon report ?

The answer is no.

According to the methodology, it is not possible to subtract the emissions of an organization. The role of the carbon report is to bring the light on the main emission sources in order to implement action plans that allow a reduction of GHG emissions.

Carbon Offset is a contribution for the irreducible emissions due to your activity.
