We're very sad to see you go! We do our best each day to make grifin the best investment app out there, but we know it's not the right app - or right time - for everybody.

There are a few steps involved with closing your grifin account, which could take multiple days to finalize.

The first step is to remove your Connected Card. This will prevent new money from being deposited into grifin (only delete your Connected Card, not your Funding Source. A Funding Source is required to withdraw money out of Grifin). You MUST complete this step in order to stop the app from withdrawing money automatically. To do this, follow these steps in your grifin app:

  1. Open the menu

  2. Click on "Banks"

  3. Under the "Connected Cards" section, you should see the financial institution you used to connect your credit or debit card. Swipe left on the financial institution. You should see a red box with a trashcan icon inside of it.

  4. Click on the Trashcan Icon

  5. Click "Remove Bank"

Once you've completed this step, you will no longer automatically deposit money into grifin.

Second, Skip your Upcoming Bank Transfer. This will stop any transactions that are currently in your Grifin app from withdrawing money from your bank. You MUST complete this step in order to stop any withdrawals that are currently in progress.

  1. Open the Menu

  2. In the Upcoming Bank Transfer section, click "Skip"

Next, you'll want to sell any stock that you own. In order to do this, follow these steps in your grifin app:

  1. Open the Menu

  2. Click on "Companies"

  3. Click on one of the company logos under the "My Companies" tab

  4. Click the Sell button

  5. Select the "Full Amount" box

  6. Click "Submit"

  7. Click "Confirm"

  8. Repeat steps 3-7 for each of the companies you own.

Note: Regulatory requirements dictate a two business day settlement period after shares are sold from your grifin account before funds are available to be transferred to your bank account.

Finally, you'll want to transfer your cash to your bank. In order to do this, follow these steps in your grifin app:

  1. Open the menu

  2. Click on "Banks"

  3. Click on "Transfer to your Bank"

  4. Select the "Full Amount" box

  5. Click "Submit"

  6. Click "Confirm"

Note: It will take 1-3 business days for the cash withdrawn from your grifin account to become available in your bank account.

If your Cash Available For Withdrawal amount is lower than your Cash Fund amount, please see this article.

Once you've successfully completed the 3 steps above, your account has been disabled and all of your funds have been withdrawn. We're required to maintain your account for tax purposes, so we're unable to fully "close" your account. At this point, however, your account has been completely deactivated.

Since we are a new company, we'd love to hear about why you left grifin. We'd appreciate it very much if you could take this final survey.
