All our recipes have very much been developed with nutritional balance front and centre. We also ensure the recipes chosen each week are really varied so that there's a good mix of healthy fats, protein, fibre and generally a great variety of colourful veg.
All our recipes have been independently analysed by a professional qualified nutritionist, using the McCance and Widdowson's The Compositoin of Foods from the Royal Society of Chemistry - which is the industry gold standard and used by supermarkets and retailers a like. All our recipe cards also have the nutritional breakdown printed on.
Protein is obviously a big part of ensuring every plant-based dish hits the mark however we don't use meat substitutes in any of our recipes. We believe in the power of plants to achieve nutritional balance but also this approach allows us to significantly reduce our packaging and footprint by removing chilled insulation, which we know our customers want.
As just one example a cup of lentils contains more protein than a burger. Lentils also contain good amounts of slowly digested carbs, contain over 50% of your recommended daily fibre intake. They also help reduce the risk of heart disease and are rich in manganese and iron and antioxidant. Taking a few recipe examples, our Satay Mushroom Noodles - in the whole-wheat noodles alone you're getting around 8g of protein per serving and combined with the protein packed peanut sauce in total there's 22g protein per serving in the dish. Our Chilli Sin Carne (with Jackfruit not meat is a great source of fibre) has 29g protein and the Beetroot & aubergine buddha 25g. In summary, all Grubby meals are nutritiously balanced, plant-based and designed to be on the table in under 30 minutes.
