GSMtasks Driver App Settings

Customize the app, check permissions and find support in the Driver App Settings page.

Written by Mia Alter

The GSMtasks Driver App allows you to customize your app experience, manage navigation preferences, check permissions, and access account settings.

This guide explains the different settings available in the GSMtasks Driver App and how to use them.

Accessing App Settings

To open the Settings menu:

  1. Open the GSMtasks Driver App.

  2. Tap the Settings icon (gear symbol) in the bottom-right corner.

  3. Scroll through the available settings to find the option you want to change.

The Settings page is divided into several sections, including Account, App Settings, Map Settings, Navigation App Settings, Permission Settings, App Queues, and User Settings. The short video below scrolls through the whole page.

Account

At the top of the Settings page, you can see the name of the account currently logged in. This helps you confirm that you are using the correct GSMtasks account, especially if you work with multiple accounts or devices.

Logging Out

To log out of the app, tap the logout icon in the top-right corner of the Settings page. You will need your login credentials to access the account again.

App Settings

The App Settings section allows you to customize how the GSMtasks Driver App is displayed and used.

Language

The Language setting allows you to change the language of the app interface. To change the language:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap Language.

  3. Select your preferred language from the available options.

The app interface will use the selected language.

Layout

The Layout setting controls the text direction and layout of the GSMtasks Driver App. RTL stands for Right-to-Left, a layout direction used for languages such as Arabic and Hebrew. Tap Layout and the Select layout mode window opens.

There are three available options:

  • Default: The app automatically determines the layout direction based on your device language and settings.

  • RTL enabled: Forces a right-to-left layout. Text alignment, menus, buttons, and certain interface elements may be mirrored.

  • RTL disabled: Forces a left-to-right layout, regardless of your device language settings.

Which option should you choose?

For most users, we recommend keeping the layout set to Default. If you use GSMtasks in English, Estonian, or Russian, these languages normally use left-to-right layouts, so there is generally no need to enable RTL.

Note: Changing the Layout setting does not change the app language. It only affects the direction and arrangement of interface elements. To change the language, use the separate Language setting.

Metafield Copying

The Metafield Copying setting allows you to enable or disable the app metafield-copying functionality. Metafields, also known as Custom Fields, are additional fields used to store task-specific information. This setting can be switched ON or OFF using the toggle next to Metafield copying.

Map Settings

The Map Settings section controls how maps are displayed within the GSMtasks Driver App.

Map Provider

The Map Provider setting allows you to select the map service used within the app. For example, the app may display Google Maps as the selected provider. To change the map provider:

  1. Open Settings, then Map Provider.

  2. Review the available options for you.

  3. Select your preferred provider.

Map Type

The Map Type setting allows you to customize how the map is displayed in the GSMtasks Driver App. There are four available map types:

  • Standard: Displays a traditional road map with streets, place names, and other geographical information.

  • Hybrid: Combines satellite imagery with road names, labels, and other map information.

  • Satellite: Displays satellite imagery, allowing you to see buildings, roads, and surrounding areas from above.

  • Terrain: Displays geographical features such as mountains, hills, and elevation differences.

How to change the map type:

  1. Open Settings, then Map Type.

  2. Choose from Standard, Hybrid, Satellite, or Terrain.

  3. Select your preferred map type.

Tip: Standard is suitable for everyday navigation, while Satellite or Hybrid can be useful when working in unfamiliar areas or locating specific buildings and properties.

Show Traffic Information

The Show Traffic Information setting allows you to enable or disable traffic information on the map.

  • Enabled: Traffic information is displayed where available.

  • Disabled: Traffic information is not displayed.

To change this setting, use the toggle next to Show traffic information.

Navigation App Settings

The Navigation App Settings section allows you to choose how navigation works when travelling to task destinations.

Navigation App

The Navigation App setting allows you to choose which navigation application GSMtasks uses when opening directions. Tap Navigation app and the Select navigation app window opens. The available options are Apple maps, Google maps, Waze, Mapy cz and Sygic. To change your navigation app:

  1. Open Settings, then Navigation App.

  2. Select your preferred navigation application from the available options.

Open Navigation App on Transit

The Open Navigation App on Transit option controls whether your selected navigation application opens automatically when you change a task status to Transit.

  • Enabled: The selected navigation application opens automatically when the task enters Transit.

  • Disabled: The navigation application does not open automatically.

This can be useful for drivers who regularly use an external navigation application when travelling between task locations.

Permission Settings

The Permission Settings section allows you to check whether GSMtasks has the necessary permissions to function correctly.

Tracking

The Tracking setting shows whether the app has permission to access your device location. When location permission is correctly configured, the status displays Granted in green. To check your tracking permission:

  1. Open Settings in the GSMtasks Driver App.

  2. Scroll to Permission Settings.

  3. Find Tracking.

  4. Confirm that the status displays Granted.

If tracking is not granted, tap the Tracking setting to review your permissions.

Important: For reliable location tracking while working, GSMtasks should have location access set to Always (iOS) or Allow all the time (Android, where available). Precise Location should also be enabled. You must allow location access in your phone settings, not just within GSMtasks.

Notifications

The Notifications setting shows whether the app has permission to send notifications. When notifications are allowed, the status displays Enabled in green. To check your notification settings:

  1. Open Settings, then Permission Settings.

  2. Find Notifications.

  3. Confirm that the status displays Enabled.

  4. If notifications are disabled, tap the setting to review the permissions on your device.

We recommend enabling notifications to receive important task-related updates.

App Queues

The App Queues section displays information waiting to be uploaded or synchronized by the GSMtasks Driver App. This section is particularly useful when troubleshooting connectivity or synchronization issues. There are three available queues.

  • Upload Queue: Displays the number of pending uploads. For example, if the number next to Upload Queue is 0, there are no pending uploads in the queue.

  • Task Commands Queue: Displays the number of queued task commands. If commands are waiting to be synchronized, the queue displays the corresponding number.

  • Working State Queue: Displays the number of queued working-state updates. This can help identify whether working-state information is still pending.

What if there are items in the queues?

  1. Check that your phone has an active internet connection.

  2. Keep the GSMtasks app open and allow time for synchronization.

  3. Check whether the queue numbers decrease.

  4. If items remain pending, contact GSMtasks Support.

Important: The Upload Queue and Task Commands Queue have a red trash icon next to them. Avoid using these buttons unless instructed by GSMtasks Support, as clearing a queue may remove information that has not yet been synchronized.

User Settings

The User Settings section allows you to manage your account password and contact support.

Change Password

The Change Password option allows you to update your GSMtasks account password. To access it:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Scroll to User Settings.

  3. Tap Change Password.

  4. Follow the instructions displayed in the app.

Contact Support

If you experience technical issues or need assistance, you can contact GSMtasks Support directly from the app. To access support:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Scroll to User Settings.

  3. Tap Contact Support.

When reporting a technical issue, it is helpful to describe what happened and include a screenshot if possible.

App Version and Privacy Policy

At the bottom of the Settings page, you can find additional application information.

Privacy Policy

Provides access to the GSMtasks Privacy Policy.

App Version

Displays the version of the GSMtasks Driver App currently installed on your device. The app version can be useful when contacting GSMtasks Support, as it helps identify which version of the application you are using.
