How to Create and Play Scenes with Multiple Camera Views

select multiple videos for simultaneous viewing

What is a Scene?

A scene lets you watch multiple camera recordings at the same time, all perfectly synchronized. If you have multiple camera angles or view from a forensic interview, creating a scene allows you to view up to four camera feeds side-by-side in one player. All the videos play together, pause together, and stay in sync when you skip to different moments. You can choose which cameras to display, switch between different viewing layouts, and even control which camera's audio you want to hear.

Creating a Scene

Step 1: Select Your Videos

1. In the file browser, select 2-4 video files that you want to combine into a scene.

2. Only video files can be used in scenes.

3. Make sure all files are fully processed and ready (not still uploading).

Step 2: Create the Scene

1. With your videos selected, click the "Create Scene" button (it looks like a video library icon) in the toolbar at the top right of your list of files.

2. The button will only be enabled when:

- You have between 2-4 videos selected

- All selected files are video files

- None of the files are already part of another scene

Step 3: Confirm Creation

- You'll see a success message when the scene is created.

- The scene will appear in your file list with a special icon.

- Your original videos remain in your files—they're just now grouped together in the scene.

Playing a Scene

Opening a Scene

1. Find the scene in your file list (it will have a special video library icon and be called "scene" in the type column).

2. Click on it to open it in the video player.

Viewing Options

When you click the scene file, a video player will open. In this player you have a few options for viewing.

Grid View (Default)

- All cameras appear in a 2x2 grid layout.

- Each camera shows its filename at the bottom.

- Click on any camera to switch to that view.

Freeform Layout

- Switch to "Free Layout" mode using the layout toggle buttons.

- Drag cameras around to position them anywhere on screen.

- Use the corner and edge handles to resize each camera view.

Custom View

- Select which cameras you want to see.

- Use the view menu at the bottom right of the video player to choose specific cameras to display.

Audio Control

- Only one camera's audio plays at a time.

- The camera with active audio will show a blue volume icon when hovering over a camera view.

- Click the volume icon on any camera to switch audio to that camera.

- All other cameras will remain muted.
