Intro to the Unified Guardz Application
To simplify deployment and ongoing management, Guardz is introducing a unified Guardz application:
Guardz Security Application for Google
Guardz Security Application for Microsoft
This consolidates the four separate applications we previously used and their respective permissions:
Guardz Detection (ITDR Read Only)
Guardz Response (ITDR Read & Write)
Guardz Data Protection (OneDrive Integrations)
Guardz Email Security (Email Protection)
From a functionality and security perspective, no behavioral changes are introduced:
The unified application replaces the need to install and manage multiple Guardz applications (per service).
All existing security monitoring, detections, and protections continue without interruption.
The unified application does not introduce new permission scopes.
It aggregates the same permissions that were previously requested across the individual Guardz applications.
What's Required form you?
1. Deploy the New Unified Application
To deploy the unified application, a one-time admin authorization is required:
Select the relevant tenant
Navigate to the ‘Security Controls’
Click on 'Upgrade Infrastructure’
Review the information, select the relevant workspace click 'Install'
Review application information and click 'Admin Install' (make sure you have admin permissions)
Proceed with the rest of the installation process
Verify proper installation:
For Google:
Make sure the status has changed to ‘Active’ (the process may take a couple of minutes)
You can also find the app now on your Google Admin account: Google Admin > Apps > Google Workspace Marketplace apps > Apps list
For Microsoft:
Make sure the status has changed to ‘Active’ (the process may take a couple of minutes)
You can also find the app on your Microsoft Azure account:
Azure portal > Enterprise applications > All Application
Please note:
This process should be performed individually for each tenant.
2. Existing Guardz Applications
After the unified application is installed, you may still see legacy Guardz enterprise applications (for example, Guardz Detection or Guardz Response)still listed in the backoffice. No action is required for these applications.
