How do I upload a video to my Vetevate Practice Profile using YouTube?

Here we explain how to upload a video from your phone or PC to YouTube and create a URL you can copy and paste to your practice profile.

Uploading a Video to YouTube from Your Phone:

  1. Open the YouTube App: Ensure you're signed in with your Google account. You must first create a free YouTube account if you do not have one.

  2. Tap the Create Button: It looks like a plus sign at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Select 'Upload a Video': Choose this option. You'll be prompted to allow YouTube access to your phone’s video files if you haven't done so already.

  4. Choose Your Video: Select the video you wish to upload from your phone's gallery.

  5. Edit Your Video (Optional): You have options to trim, apply filters, or add music here.

  6. Add Video Details: Enter a title, description, and select the "Public" privacy setting.

  7. Select 'Next' and Review Visibility Settings: Make sure to set your audience preference to 'No, it’s not 'Made for Kids'

  8. Upload Your Video: Tap "Upload" to start the upload process.

Creating and Copying the Video URL:

  1. Access Your Video: Once uploaded, go to the “Library” section or “Your videos” menu on the app.

  2. Find Your Video: Tap on the video you uploaded to open it.

  3. Share the Video: Tap the share icon (an arrow) below the video.

  4. Copy the Link: Choose the “Copy link” option from the sharing menu.

Now, you can paste the copied URL to the Practice Video field provided

Uploading a Video to YouTube from Your PC:

  1. Visit YouTube: Go to YouTube in your web browser and sign in with your Google account.

  2. Click the Create Button: Located at the top right corner of the screen, represented by a camera with a plus sign.

  3. Select 'Upload Video': This will take you to the upload page.

  4. Choose Your Video File: Click on "Select Files" to browse and select the video you want to upload from your computer.

  5. Enter Video Details: Add a title, description, and any other information. You can also choose a thumbnail, add the video to a playlist, and configure audience settings.

  6. Select 'Next' and Review Visibility Settings: Make sure to set your audience preference to 'No, it’s not 'Made for Kids'

  7. Upload Your Video: Tap "Upload" to start the upload process.

Creating and Copying the Video URL:

  1. Access Your Video: Once uploaded, go to YouTube Studio and access your videos from the dashboard.

  2. Locate the Video: Click the video you just uploaded to open its details page.

  3. Copy the Video Link: The URL for your video will be displayed in the address bar of your browser. You can copy it directly from there.

Now, you can paste the copied URL to the Practice Video field provided

Privacy settings: To enable job seekers to view your video on the Vetevate platform, the visibility for your video must be set to "Public."

If the visibility of your practice video is set to "Private" candidates will not be able to view the video on the Vetevate platform

Here are instructions for changing the privacy setting of your YouTube video from private to public, for PC, iPhone, and Android. These steps will ensure your video is successfully set to public, making it viewable to everyone.

On PC:

  1. Visit YouTube Studio: Go to YouTube Studio in your web browser and sign in with your Google account.

  2. Navigate to Your Videos: In the left-hand menu, click on “Content” to view all your uploaded videos.

  3. Find the Video: Locate the video you want to change and hover over it. Click the pencil icon or "Details" link to edit the video's settings.

  4. Edit Privacy Settings: Under the "Visibility" section, find the current setting (Private) and change it to "Public."

  5. Save Changes: Click "Save" to apply your new settings.

On iPhone:

  1. Open YouTube App: Ensure you're logged in with your Google account.

  2. Go to Your Channel: Tap on your profile icon in the upper right corner and select "Your Channel."

  3. Access Your Videos: Find the video you wish to edit in the “VIDEOS” tab.

  4. Edit the Video: Tap the three dots next to the video and select “Edit.”

  5. Change Privacy Setting: Under the privacy settings, switch from “Private” to “Public.”

On Android:

  1. Open YouTube App: Make sure you are logged into your Google account.

  2. Access Your Channel: Tap your profile picture on the top right and choose "Your Channel."

  3. Locate Your Video: In the “VIDEOS” tab, find the video you wish to edit.

  4. Edit the Video: Tap the three dots next to the video and choose “Edit.”

  5. Adjust Privacy Settings: Change the privacy setting from “Private” to “Public.”

  6. Save Changes: Tap “Save” to confirm the changes.

Here are instructions for changing the privacy setting of your Vimeo video from private to public, for both PC and mobile (iPhone and Android):

On PC:

  1. Visit Vimeo: Go to Vimeo in your web browser and sign in to your account.

  2. Navigate to Videos: Click on "Manage Videos" from the dashboard or use the "Video Manager" option.

  3. Find the Video: Locate the video you want to edit and click on it to open the video settings.

  4. Edit Privacy Settings: Under the "Privacy" tab, look for the privacy options.

  5. Change to Public: Select “Anyone” under the "Who can watch" section to make your video public.

  6. Save Changes: Click "Save" or "Update" to confirm your new settings.

On iPhone and Android:

  1. Open Vimeo App: Log into your account.

  2. Go to Your Videos: Tap the profile icon and navigate to "My videos."

  3. Select the Video: Find and tap the video you wish to edit.

  4. Access Privacy Settings: Look for an “Edit” option or privacy settings gear icon.

  5. Change to Public: Set the privacy option to “Anyone” to make the video public.

  6. Save Updates: Confirm by tapping “Save” or “Update” to apply the changes.

By following these steps, your Vimeo video will be set to public, allowing anyone to view it.
