Improve email deliverability

It's critical that candidates are receiving your communications with them during the interview process - here are some best practices!

Updated over 6 months ago

When sending messages via Guide, there are a number of steps you can take to ensure candidates receive your messages in their primary inbox.

If a candidate reports that an email went to "Updates" folder (or spam)

If a candidate informs you that a message isn't landing in their Primary folder, you can send them the following message:

Hi {candidate's name},

To ensure that future messages from us end up in the Primary folder of your email inbox, please do the following (outlined in this how-to video):

  • Add the email sender to your contacts by hovering over the sender's name in Gmail and clicking the "Add to contacts" button

  • Drag the message into the Primary folder

  • If marked as spam: Click "Report not spam"

Thank you!

{your name}

A more proactive approach

A more direct option that will ensure candidate's receive all messages is to send a message from your Gmail client at the beginning of the process.

This should not be necessary and is only a last resort if you are getting multiple reports of messages going to spam. Please contact Guide support if this is the case!
