Why do calendar events go out of sync?
Occasionally, users may edit interview details (like time, interviewer(s), or meeting link) directly within the Google Calendar event. Since these changes bypass Guide, the event information in Guide and Google Calendar becomes out of sync. This results in candidates and interviewers having discrepant interview details.
Below we will walk you through best practice when editing interviews and how to resolve the "Google Calendar event is out of sync with Guide" warning in Guide.
Best practice when editing interviews:
When editing interviews, it is important to do so directly in Guide vs. on the Google calendar invite. This ensures all parties have the same interview details. In addition to locating an interview in Guide via the candidate profile extension or "Upcoming interviews" page, you can quickly access by clicking the "Edit this invite" link within the Google calendar event.
Instructions for resolving "Google Calendar event is out of sync with Guide" error:
Identify the error:
Click into the interview and on the "View differences" link:
This will open a side-by-side comparison of the event details. On the left, you’ll see the details from Guide, and on the right, you’ll see what’s currently in Google Calendar.
Review the Differences:
Information that will be replaced in Gcal is crossed out and the updated information (from Guide) to replace it will be displayed underneath.
Click "Update Google to Match Guide":
If the Guide event details are correct, click the "Update Google to Match Guide" button. This will automatically update the Google Calendar event to reflect the correct details from Guide.
What if I want interview details in Guide to match Google?
Use the "Edit this interview" link in the Google calendar invite to make the appropriate edits to the interview details in Guide.
