Show, hide, and fade map layers

Two Toolbox controls manage what the Common Operating Picture (COP+) map shows: Layer List and Legend turns layers on and off, and Layer Opacity fades the big overlays so you can read the map underneath.

Show or hide layers

  1. Open Toolbox in the left-hand menu.

  2. Click Layer List and Legend. The legend appears on the right-hand side.

  3. Toggle layers on or off as needed.

Two behaviours to know:

  • Some layers switch on or off automatically as the map scale changes. If a layer refuses to appear, zoom in or out.

  • A layer with an arrow beside it holds sublayers. Click the arrow to expand them.

Fade layers with opacity

  1. Open Toolbox and click Layer Opacity.

  2. Drag the orange slider beside a feature, or type a number, to set its transparency.

Opacity controls cover the Hazard Area (event-created), EPZ (company-owned), Hot, Warm, Cold Zones, administrative boundaries, and wildfire notification zones.
