What happens when fire touches a notification zone?

When a fire's boundary touches a notification zone, the assigned contact list gets an email, text message, and phone call, and the email links straight to the affected zone in COP+.

Written by Phil Wheaton

The moment a fire's boundary touches the zone's radius, the assigned contact list receives an email, a text message, and a phone call.

The wildfire notification email includes a direct link to COP+. Click it and you land on the relevant wildfire, based on your affected zones. To recognize the phone call when it comes, save the H2Safety caller IDs on your device, and see how callout works.

What your team does next

The alert is information, not instruction. Your emergency response team should always refer to your Emergency Response Plan and take the action it directs.

If the fire progresses to a zone where your ERP directs you to mobilize, create a new session in COP+ and/or VEOC exactly as you would for any other event. See Create a session.
