Load and refresh wildfire data

Click Show Fires and Zones at the start of every session to pull live fire data onto the map, and click it again to refresh your view while you work.

Wildfire data does not load on its own. Every time you enter a session, click Show Fires and Zones to pull the current fire data onto your map. The same button refreshes your view while you create, edit, or remove notification zones.

The system still monitors for fire events in the background either way. Loading the data only affects what you see; it never affects whether alerts go out.

Before you start

You need initiator access or initiator permissions, and you must be inside a session. See Sign in to H2CommandCentre, then create a session or join a session.

Steps

  1. Sign in to H2CommandCentre and open COP+.

  2. Create or join a session.

  3. In the menu, click Wildfire Management > Manage Notification Zones.

  4. Click Show Fires and Zones. Active fires populate the wildfire map layers and the data table for Alberta and British Columbia, and each tab now shows its record count.

Every other Wildfire task starts with these four steps. Maintenance articles link back here rather than repeating them.

The four tabs

Until you load the data, the four tabs under Manage Notification Zones sit empty:

When to refresh

  • The table and map fire data update automatically every 30 minutes.

  • Your own changes do not: after creating, editing, or deleting a notification zone, click Show Fires and Zones again to see the change on the map.
