How WearOS notifications work

Your smartwatch displays notifications that are mirrored from your phone's Habitify app.

While this ensures you never miss a habit reminder, there are important differences between notifications and the actual watch app:

  • Notifications are push alerts that appear on both devices

  • The watch app is a separate application installed on your smartwatch

  • The phone app is the main Habitify application on your smartphone

The notification system is designed to alert you about habits, but it can't sync completion data back to our servers. This is a technical limitation that helps preserve battery life and ensure data accuracy across your devices.

How to record progress

Using the Watch App

  • Open the Habitify app directly on your watch

  • Navigate to your habit

  • Tap to check-in

Using the Phone App

  • Open Habitify on your phone

  • Find your habit

  • Mark it as complete

What Won't Work ❌

  • Tapping "Complete" on watch notifications

  • Using notification actions without opening the app
