  • Sync from Habitify Android app to Google Calendar on Android devices

Connect Habitify and Apple Calendar

To sync your habits with your calendar, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Habitify app and go to the Settings tab.

  2. Look for the Integration category and tap on Apple Calendar.

  3. Switch the toggle to enable the synced

  4. Choose between two modes. You also can exclude some of your habits to prevent them from syncing to the calendar.

Understand the Syncing Mode

There are 2 modes of syncing your habits as events in Calendar: All-Day Events and Based on Reminder Time.

Syncing Mode: All-Day Events

This mode provides a clean, high-level overview of your habits. It syncs each habit to your Apple Calendar as a single all-day event that appears at the top of your daily schedule.

  • How it works: One habit in Habitify becomes one all-day event in your calendar. The event's recurrence is determined by your habit's repeat settings (e.g., daily, weekly on Mondays, etc.).

  • Who is this for?: This is perfect for users who want a general reminder of their habits without blocking out specific times. It's ideal for flexible habits like "Watch Today News" or "Read An Article."

Example: If you have a habit to "Journal" every weekday, an all-day event named "Journal" will appear at the top of your calendar from Monday to Friday.

Syncing Mode: Based on Reminder Time

This mode is designed for precision and time-blocking. It syncs each specific reminder you set for a habit as a separate, timed event in your calendar.

  • How it works: Each reminder time you set creates a distinct calendar event. The timing and repetition of this event are based on both the habit's overall schedule and the custom schedule you may have set for that specific reminder.

  • Event Duration: The length of the calendar event is set automatically based on your habit's goal:

    • If your habit's goal is measured in minutes or hours, the calendar event will match that duration. For example, a habit to "Practice piano for 45 minutes" will create a 45-minute event.

    • For all other goal units (like times, km, or pages), the event will have a default duration of 15 minutes.

  • Who is this for?: This is ideal for users who practice time-blocking or have habits that need to be done at a specific time, like "Morning workout at 7 AM" or "Take medication at 9 PM."

Example: Imagine you have a "Take a break" habit, with reminders set for 10 AM on Monday and Friday, and 3 PM on all weekdays. This will create

  • two separate events on Monday and Friday: one from 10:00 to 10:15 AM and another from 3:00 to 3:15 PM.

  • one event on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 3:00 to 3:15 PM.

Result

When Habitify and Apple Calendar is connect successfully, a new calendar "Habitify V2" will be created in your Apple Calendar with all the habit events.

There's no syncing of check-in between Habitify and Calendar. Therefore, it may happen the case that your habit is completed but the Calendar still sends the reminders.
