Widget does not update: troubleshooting

To ensure your widget updates correctly, tap on the widget to open the app.

We understand it can be frustrating when the widget doesn't show your latest habit status right away. Your widget currently runs directly on your device. To save battery life and keep your phone running smoothly, the operating system limits how often apps like ours can run checks in the background. The OS decides when the widget is allowed to check your habit status and update itself, and sometimes delays these updates to conserve power.

This is why the widget might not be perfectly up-to-date until you open the main app – opening the app gives it priority to check everything immediately.

To improve this experience, our team is working on moving the widget's update system to our servers. This new approach will trigger more timely widget updates, helping to bypass some of the stricter background limits on your device. This should make the widget much more reliable, although it will require an internet connection to work best.
