While we do program supersets to provide a different stimulus (like in a pre-exhaust superset, a post-exhaust superset, or to generate a lactic response), we understand it is not always possible to perform exercises as programmed due to limitations in a busy gym or due to the layout of the gym.
For most of us, we say ‘the muscle doesn’t care’. Remember, you make gains when you are progressively overloading and this can be done in a straight set or a superset. Just make sure to rest properly if you are in a strength phase. In a fat loss phase, we don’t always take full rest because the stimulus we want is a lactic response.
This video tutorial demonstrates how to perform and log all sets of an exercise instead of following the prescribed superset format. This is helpful if you are in a busy gym and don’t want to switch between equipment/machines.
