Happy Scribe makes it easy to export your files in various text-based formats, such as Word or PDF. Below are the steps to follow to successfully export your transcript file!

  • Access your transcript and click on "Export" in the top-right corner of the Editor

  • Select your preferred file format and adjust your style preferences (if the format allows)

  • Click on "Export file" (depending on the format, you will have to scroll a bit to find this button), and the transcript will be downloaded into your computer- Alternatively, from your dashboard, click the three dots next to the file and select the "Export" option to initiate the download.

Common Export Issues and Troubleshooting

  • Why doesn't my export look like a transcript?
Make sure to select a text-based format such as Word or PDF when exporting. If you're not seeing the expected format, try scrolling through the list of export options to find the one that best suits your needs.

  • Missing Export Formats: Verify your Happy Scribe subscription plan for access to specific export formats.

  • Locating the Export Button: The export feature is available in the editor or through your dashboard under the file’s three-dot menu.

What export formats are available?

The file formats available depend on what plan you're on:

  • Starter plan: export files in DOCX, TXT, SRT, and MP4 (watermarked)

  • Lite plan: export files in DOCX, TXT, SRT, and MP4 (without watermark)

  • Pro and Business plans and Human-Made files: SRT, TXT, DOCX, PDF, VTT, STL, HTML, XML, FCPXML, JSON, EDL, CSV (without watermark)

What export style preferences can I set?

Depending on the selected export format, if it supports style preferences (such as DOCX, for example), you will be able to set the following:

  • Timecode options:

    • Include timecodes

    • Timecode frequency

  • Speaker label options:

    • Include speaker labels

    • Label frequency

  • Other options:

    • Include comments

    • Include highlights

    • Export highlights only
