What is Biblically Responsible Investing?

A history of faith-based investing

Biblically Responsible Investing—often called Faith-Based or Kingdom Investing—is the practice of aligning your financial decisions with your Christian values. It treats investing not just as a way to grow wealth, but as an act of stewardship.

Historically, most investment portfolios have been "values-blind." This means your capital could unintentionally be funding companies involved in activities contrary to your faith. BRI closes that gap by integrating a spiritual framework into the investment selection process.

How does BRI differ from ESG or SRI?

While you may hear terms like ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) or SRI (Socially Responsible Investing), BRI is distinct because its "North Star" is Scripture.

  • ESG/SRI often focuses on secular social trends or political objectives.

  • BRI focuses on the objective truths found in the Bible and the historical teachings of the Church.

How does Harvest implement BRI?

Our approach to values-based investing is built on three principles

Avoid

We screen out companies whose primary business activities conflict with biblical values.

Embrace

We favor companies that contribute positively to human flourishing through ethical practices and good stewardship.

Engage

We partner with fund managers who actively engage with companies on issues that matter through shareholder advocacy.

A note on perfection: No screening process is perfect. Companies are complex, and data can be incomplete. We can't guarantee alignment with every individual's convictions, but we are committed to being diligent, transparent, and continuously improving our approach.
