Create email notification alerts for any Sigma Report

What Are Email Alerts in Sigma?

Email alerts allow you to automatically notify yourself or others when certain conditions are met in your data. For example, you can receive an alert when:

  • A number exceeds a threshold

  • A field changes

  • A total drops below a set value

  • Any custom condition you define becomes true

Alerts run automatically in the background and send an email only when your criteria are met.

Step 1: Open the Report You Want to Monitor

  1. Navigate to the Reporting tab in Sigma.

  2. Open the report that contains the data you want to trigger alerts from.

  3. In the upper right corner of the report, click the bell icon. This is the alert setup button.

Step 2: Configure Your Alert Condition

Once the alert panel opens, you’ll see several configurable sections.

Choose Your Alert Type

Select the column or metric you want the alert to monitor—for example, “Total Amount,” “Status,” or any other field in the report.

Set the Condition

Define when the alert should trigger. Examples include:

  • Greater than a specific value

  • Less than a specific value

  • Equals / does not equal

  • Is blank / is not blank

You can select one or multiple conditions depending on the type of alert.

Preview Your Condition

Sigma highlights whether the current data meets your criteria, giving you confidence that your condition is configured correctly.

Step 3: Add Recipients

You can send alerts to:

  • Yourself

  • Any Sigma user

  • External recipients (people without Sigma accounts)

Just enter their email addresses in the Recipients section.

Step 4: Customize the Email Message

You can add an optional custom message to help recipients understand the context of the alert. This message appears in the alert email.

Step 5: Save and Activate Your Alert

  1. Once everything is configured, click Save.

  2. Sigma will confirm that your alert is active.

  3. You’re all set! Your alert will now run automatically in the background.

When the alert conditions are met, all recipients will receive an email notification containing the relevant data from the report.

Managing or Editing Alerts

At any time, return to the bell icon in the upper right of the report to:

  • View existing alerts

  • Edit alert conditions

  • Add or remove recipients

  • Pause or delete alerts

You're Done!

Your alert is now live and will automatically notify you or your team whenever your defined conditions are met—no manual checking required.
