Plant/Machinery Pre-Start

A pre-start should be done before using machinery to ensure safety, prevent accidents, and maintain efficient operation.

Who can use this?

You need one of these plans:

  • Complete Plan

  • Premium Plan

  • Standard Plan (NZ and Aus only)

What is a Pre-Start?

A quick safety check you do before using machinery or equipment.

Why use it?

  • Keeps digital records of your safety checks

  • Works for all machinery (lifts, excavators, trucks, etc)

  • Helps prove your equipment is safe to use

How to create a Pre-Start:

  1. Open the HazardCo App and find "Plant/Machinery Pre-Start"

    • It's on the Home screen when you scroll down

    • OR tap "Create" at bottom right, then select from list

  2. Select your machinery:

    • Choose from your previously used machinery list
      ​Time saving tip: After you've checked a piece of equipment once, it stays in your machinery list. Next time, just select it and the details will automatically fill in!

    • OR tap "Create new" if it's not listed

  3. Fill in the required fields on the Machinery Details screen and tap "Next"

  4. Work through the questions in the safety checklist and tap "Next" when done

  5. Add any notes/photos and create follow-up tasks if needed by tapping "Create Task"​

  6. Tap "Submit" at bottom right

    • You'll see "Plant/Machinery Pre-Start saved" message

    • Your report is now complete!

Finding your Pre-Start reports later:

  • In the App: Go to "My Reports" section

  • In the Hub: Look in the Reports area where you can filter by report type to view all your Pre-Starts
