HCB cards: how to order, activate, and use them

Getting virtual or physical HCB cards and spending with them online and in person.

šŸ’” HCB gives you virtual and physical Visa cards to spend your organization's money. Virtual cards are ready instantly; physical cards are mailed to you. A card can only spend money your organization actually has, so there's no risk of overspending.

Virtual vs. physical

  • Virtual cards are created instantly and are great for online purchases and for adding to Apple Pay or Google Pay.

  • Physical cards are mailed to you and are meant for in-person use within the United States.

If you're outside the US, use a virtual card.

Order a card

  1. On your organization's dashboard, open the Cards tab.

  2. Click Order a card and choose virtual or physical.

You can also customize your cards with your organization's logo.

Activate and use it

Activate a new card from the Cards tab. To pay online, open the card to see its number, expiration date, CVV, and billing address. HCB cards work anywhere Visa is accepted, and there are no foreign transaction fees.

Match your billing address

āš ļø When an online checkout asks for a billing address, enter the one that matches the address on file in your HCB account, or the purchase can be declined. Check or update it at your address settings. The simplest approach is to set it to your own address and use that at checkout; otherwise, remember to enter whatever address is on file each time. HCB card billing addresses can only be US addresses, so some international merchants won't accept them, and you may need another way to pay.

How much a card can spend

Spend on things your organization needs, not personal purchases. How much a card can spend depends on the cardholder's role: a manager's card can spend up to your organization's full balance, while a member's card is limited to the spending allowance a manager sets for them.
