How do I pay someone?

Paying a person or company from HCB by transfer, and the tax form HCB needs the first time.

šŸ’” To pay a person or company, collect their payment details and send them a transfer by ACH, check, wire, or Wise. The first time you pay someone for goods or services, HCB may need a tax form from them.

How to pay someone

  1. Decide how you'll pay them: ACH or a mailed check for US recipients, or a wire or Wise transfer internationally.

  2. Collect the details that method needs (for example, name, email, and bank routing and account numbers for an ACH transfer).

  3. On your organization's dashboard, open the Transfers tab, click Send, choose the method, and enter their details and the amount.

  4. Attach an invoice for the payment.

Tax forms for contractors and vendors

The first time you pay someone for goods or services, HCB needs a tax form on file: a W-9 for US individuals and businesses, or a W-8 BEN (individuals) or W-8 BEN-E (businesses and organizations) for non-US recipients. If it's missing, the HCB team may reach out to collect it before the payment goes through. This applies to individuals and LLCs alike.
