Understanding enrollment statuses
Status Name | Definition |
Pending Enrollment | Enrollment is scheduled to occur on the enrollment start date |
Enrolled | Actively enrolled in the benefit. |
Extension Period | Unenrollment is scheduled, but member may incur expenses and use their remaining balance. (DC-FSA, FSA, LP-FSA) |
Run-Out Period | Unenrollment is scheduled, but member may file claims for expenses incurred during the plan year. (DC-FSA, FSA, LP-FSA) |
Unenrolled | Unenrolled and can no longer incur expenses or file claims. (All) |
Extension and run-out period note
If an unenrolled member has a benefit plan with a extension period or run-out period, they will immediately move into those periods. After the period(s) has passed, their status will update to Unenrolled.
Example
Jenna has an FSA with an extension period of 30 days. After her admin unenrolls her from the FSA, she moves into her extension period with 30 days to incur expenses before she is unenrolled.
Unenrolled note
Unenrolled is shown for all members with a past enrollment end date and an extension period and run-out period that has passed (if applicable).
For this reason, the unenrolled status will be displayed for both members unenrolled:
By admins through the unenrollment feature
Through expiring benefit plans as originally scheduled.
Note on plan end dates
Individuals enrolled in a benefit plan scheduled to expire (plan end date, extension period date, run-out date) will automatically be withdrawn from these benefits on these dates. It is not necessary to use the unenrollment feature for these reasons.
Common reasons for unenrollment
Here are some common reasons to unenroll an individual.
