This article explains how to delete an extraction backup file in a few quick steps. Deleting a backup frees up storage space, but once removed it cannot be undone.
Important:
Before deleting an extraction backup, check with your legal team to ensure they have everything they need. This action is permanent and cannot be restored.
If your backup was saved to an external location (such as an external hard drive or flash drive), connect it to your computer before starting.
Step 1: Open the Hearsay Extractor
Launch the Hearsay Extraction Application on your computer.
Step 2: Locate the case backup
You can find the red trash can icon next to your case name in two places:
Step 2a: Last Opened section
If your case was the last extraction run on this computer, it should appear in the Last Opened section at the center of your screen.
Step 2b: See History section
If your case name doesn’t appear in the Last Opened section, click See History (under the purple Enter button) to view case names from previous extractions run on this computer.
Step 3: Delete the backup
Click the red trash can icon next to the case you want to delete. Select Delete to confirm.
This only deletes the extraction backup file from the location you selected during setup. It does not delete any data from your phone. This cannot be undone.
