How do I record and transcribe in-person meetings with M1?

Staying focused in meetings is easier when you don't need to take notes yourself. With Voice Memo, you can capture conversations, get instant transcripts, and generate AI-powered summaries - all saved directly in your M1 inbox.


I. What is the M1 In-Person Recorder?

The In-Person Recorder is M1's built-in voice memo tool designed for meetings, interviews, or spoken notes you want to capture outside of phone calls. With just a tap, you can:

  • Record conversations in real time

  • Get high-accuracy transcripts

  • Receive AI-powered summaries with key points and action items


II. Why use the In-Person Recorder?

  • Capture every detail: Record important discussions, brainstorming sessions, or interviews.

  • Stay present: Focus on the conversation while M1 handles the note-taking.

  • Keep everything in one place: Access call logs, transcripts, and memos all in your M1 inbox.

  • Share with ease: Distribute summaries via secure link, email, or copy text directly.


III. How to start a voice memo

  • Open the M1 app

  • On the main screen, tap the red floating button labeled In-Person Recorder (a red dot)

  • Tap once to begin recording (a timer will display your progress)

  • Tap again to stop recording

  • M1 will automatically transcribe and summarize the memo for you

Advanced recording features

  • With Live Activity support, your recording continues even if you minimize the app or lock your screen, with status updates visible at a glance.

  • If your voice recording is interrupted by a phone call, the recorder will resume automatically once the call ends, so you won’t lose your notes.


IV. How to access and share your memos

All voice memos and meeting summaries are saved under the Memos tab at the top of your M1 inbox.

➡️ To share a memo:

  • Open the memo you want to share

  • Tap Share and choose one of the available methods:

    • Copy link

    • Notes (iOS)

    • Email

    • Copy text

    • Invite team

    • Notion

    • Slack

    • Zapier

    • Or tap Other for more options

V. How to disable the floating button

If you prefer not to see the In-Person Recorder button:

  • Go to the Settings tab in the M1 app

  • Scroll to the Customize section

  • Toggle off In-Person Recorder
