Troubleshooting Guide: Traffic to My Landing Page is Not Tracked Correctly

If traffic to your landing page is not being tracked properly, follow this step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

1. Are You Using a 3rd Party Page Builder?

Common Issue: If you're using a 3rd party page builder like Replo, Zipify, or GemPages, additional setup is required to track custom-built pages that fall outside Shopify’s standard theme structure.

Steps for 3rd Party Page Builders:

  1. Install the Heatmap.com Tracking Code in Your Shopify Theme
Make sure the main Heatmap.com tracking code is installed in your Shopify theme as usual.

  2. Identify Your Page Builder
If you're using Replo, Zipify, or GemPages, follow the specific instructions below.

2. Specific Instructions for Popular Page Builders:

Replo

  1. Log in to your Replo dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Integrations.

  3. In the Custom Code or Header Scripts section, paste your Heatmap.com tracking code.

  4. Save your changes.

Zipify Pages

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Zipify Pages.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Tracking.

  3. In the Header Code section, add your Heatmap.com tracking code.

  4. Click Save to apply.

GemPages

  1. Open the GemPages editor.

  2. Click on Settings in the left sidebar.

  3. Go to the Custom Code tab.

  4. Paste your Heatmap.com tracking code in the Header section.

  5. Click Save to apply changes.

3. Verifying Installation

After installing the tracking code:

  1. Publish or Update a page created with your page builder.

  2. Use Heatmap.com's verification tool to confirm tracking is working.

  3. Perform a test interaction on the page and check if it appears in your Heatmap.com dashboard.

4. Troubleshooting Steps

If tracking still isn’t working:

  • Check Installation: Ensure you've installed the code in both your Shopify theme and the page builder settings.

  • Clear Cache: If your page builder has a caching system, clear the cache to ensure changes take effect.

  • Verify Tracking Code: Make sure you are using the correct tracking code for your Heatmap.com account.

5. General Installation Instructions

If you’re not using a 3rd party page builder, follow these steps:

  1. Confirm the Heatmap.com tracking code is installed in your Shopify theme in the <head> section of your HTML.

  2. Make sure there are no typos or accidental modifications in the tracking code.

  3. Clear your Shopify theme cache and verify the code is running properly.
