How to Apply and Use Filters for Screen Recordings in Heatmap?

Screen recordings provide valuable insights into user behavior on your website. To make the most of this feature, Heatmap allows you to apply filters to narrow down and focus on specific user sessions. This guide will walk you through the process of applying and using filters for your screen recordings.

Why Use Filters?

Filters help you:

- Focus on specific user segments

- Analyze behavior based on particular criteria

- Save time by viewing only relevant recordings

Applying Filters to Screen Recordings:

1. Navigate to the Screen Recordings section in your Heatmap dashboard.

2. Look for the "Filters" option, typically located near the top of the page.

3. Click on "Add Filter" to see the available filter options.

4. Choose from a variety of filters, such as:

- Date Range

- Device Type (Desktop, Mobile, Tablet)

- Browser

- Country

- Pages Visited

- Session Duration

- User Behavior (e.g., Rage Clicks, U-Turns)

- Custom Events

5. Select the desired filter and set the specific criteria.

6. Click "Apply" to activate the filter.

7. Your screen recordings list will now update to show only the sessions that match your filter criteria.

Using Multiple Filters:

You can combine multiple filters to create more specific segments:

1. After applying your first filter, click "Add Filter" again.

2. Choose another filter category and set its criteria.

3. Repeat this process to add as many filters as needed.

4. Heatmap will display recordings that match ALL the selected filter criteria.

Saving and Managing Filters:

- To save a set of filters for future use, look for a "Save Filter" or "Create Segment" option.

- Give your saved filter a name for easy reference.

- Access saved filters from the Filters menu to quickly apply them in the future.

Removing Filters:

- To remove a single filter, click the "X" next to the filter name.

- To clear all filters, look for a "Clear All" or "Reset Filters" option.

Tips for Effective Filter Use:

1. Start with broad filters and gradually narrow down to find specific user behaviors.

2. Use date range filters to analyze how user behavior changes over time.

3. Combine device type and behavior filters to understand how different users interact with your site.

4. Regularly review and update your saved filters to ensure they remain relevant.

By effectively using filters, you can gain deeper insights from your screen recordings and make data-driven decisions to improve your website's user experience.
