FAQ: How to Uninstall Heatmap.com from Your Shopify Site

If you no longer wish to use Heatmap.com on your Shopify site, follow these steps to remove the tracking snippets and disable the integration.

  1. Log in to Your Shopify Admin
Access your Shopify admin panel by logging in with your credentials.

  2. Remove the Tracking Snippet

    • Go to "Online Store" > "Themes" > "Actions" > "Edit code".

    • In the "Layout" folder, open the theme.liquid file.

    • Locate the Heatmap Tracking Snippet that was added just before the closing </head> tag.

    • Delete the entire snippet code, then click Save to update your theme.

  3. Remove the Revenue Snippet

    • In your Shopify admin, go to "Settings" > "Customer Events".

    • Locate the pixel you created for Heatmap, likely named "heatmap-revenue".

    • Click the "Delete" or "Deactivate" option for this pixel to remove it from your store.

  4. Verify the Uninstallation

    • To ensure that Heatmap.com is no longer tracking your site, log in to your Heatmap account and check if data collection has stopped.

    • You can also check the source code of your Shopify store to confirm the Heatmap Snippet is no longer present.

  5. Final Checks

    • Once you've removed both the tracking and revenue snippets, your Heatmap account should no longer collect data from your Shopify store.

    • If you're still seeing data in your Heatmap dashboard after 24 hours, you may want to reach out to Heatmap support for further assistance.
