Quick Answer

Use Interactive Mode and wait 5 seconds after opening your menu to capture its position, then switch to Data Mode to see the heatmap overlay.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open your heatmap dashboard

  2. Click "Interactive Mode" in the top navigation

    • Note: This temporarily hides the heatmap data points

  3. Click to open your desktop menu

  4. Wait 5 seconds while keeping the menu open

    • This pause allows the system to register the menu's position

    • Important: Don't click away or close the menu during this time

  5. Switch back to "Data Mode"

    • The menu will automatically reopen to your captured position

    • Your heatmap data will display over the menu elements

Pro Tips

  • Use this method for analyzing dropdown menus, mega menus, and other expandable navigation

  • Make sure all submenu items you want to analyze are visible during the 5-second pause

  • The captured menu position will persist until you perform a new capture

Common Issues

  • If the menu position isn't saving, ensure you waited the full 5 seconds

  • If you don't see data, verify that your menu has received enough traffic

  • For complex mega menus, you may need to capture different sections separately
