View Data from both Live and Ended A/B Tests in Heatmap

Updated over a week ago

Pulling heatmap data from past A/B tests lets you see exactly how users interacted with each variant. This helps you understand what worked, what didn’t, and apply those insights to future improvements.

In Heatmap, you're able to pull data on both Live and Ended A/B Tests.

Analyzing Data on A/B Tests within Heatmap

If the A/B Test is Live:

For tests that are still active and running, you'll be able to bring them into the A/B Test Filter as long as your testing platform is properly integrated with Heatmap.

To pull in your A/B test variants,

  1. Go to Filters, select A/B Tests.

  2. Select the A/B testing tool you're using to run the experiment, and then choose the specific experiment name or variant you'd like to bring into the platform.

Note: Heatmap will bring in the same naming conventions used in your A/B testing platform.

  3. Once you have the appropriate variant selected, click Apply and the page will reload with data from your A/B test.

If the test has ended:

Since the variants won’t be live anymore, we'll need to use the date filter and View Previous Versions feature to populate the appropriate data from your past A/B test.

  1. Go to the Heatmap feature and find the specific page you'd like to review.

  2. Use the date picker at the top of the screen to choose the time range you want to review and click View Previous Versions.

  3. Select the appropriate display you'd like to analyze and click Load Selected Version to populate the data.

  4. Heatmap will re-load the page with the appropriate display and provide visual data (clicks, scroll depth, etc.) for that version of the page.
