The Web Versioning Feature lets you view how your website looked and performed at any point in the past, especially useful when reviewing ended A/B tests or checking for older theme updates.
This feature pulls up historical screenshots and user interaction data from specific time periods. It’s not limited to A/B tests and can also help you:
See previous theme versions active during specific timeframes
Access screenshots that may no longer appear in the current view
Review layout or content changes from older versions of the page
Analyse user behavior from older A/B test variants
How to View Previous Website Versions
If you'd like a video walkthrough of the View Previous Version feature, watch this video below:
Go to the Heatmap feature and find the specific page you'd like to review.
Use the Date Picker at the top of the screen to choose the time range you want to review and click View Previous Versions.
Select the appropriate display you'd like to analyze and click Load Selected Version to populate the data.
Heatmap will re-load the page with the appropriate display and provide visual data (clicks, scroll depth, etc.) for that version of the page.
⚠️ If a screenshot seems missing or outdated, it’s often because the layout has changed. Use the Web Versioning Feature to view the correct version by adjusting the date range.
View Ended A/B Test Variants
If you're trying to view data from previous A/B tests that have already ended on Heatmap, you'll need to change the website view. Following the steps above, you should be able to find the specific variants from your test in the designated date ranges of the experiment.
