How to Install and Use the Heatmap Chrome Extension

A Chrome extension that provides another way to view your heatmap pages directly from your url bypassing the content security restrictions from Shopify and Cloudflare.

The Heatmap Chrome extension provides a reliable way to view your heatmap pages when the standard page preview is affected by proxy or rendering issues.
With the extension installed, your website pages should load directly in Chrome without rendering problems, 504s, local_rate_limited errors, connection error messages or Shopify Cloudflare restrictions for third party apps.


With the extension installed, you can open your live website directly in Chrome, scan the page, and click on tracked elements to view their performance data in the panel on the right.



How to Install the Extension

  1. Log in to your Heatmap account and click the Chrome extension link provided in the platform.

  2. Download and install the Heatmap Chrome Extension or directly from the Google Chrome store.

  3. Once installed, open your live website.

  4. Click the Heatmap extension icon in your Chrome toolbar and log in to your Heatmap account.

  5. Select Heatmap and allow the extension to scan and access the current page.

  6. Click any tracked element on the page to view its related performance data in the panel on the right.


What the extension helps with
The Heatmap Chrome extension allows you to:

  • View pages that may not load correctly through the standard Heatmap proxy.

  • Review heatmap data directly on your live website.

  • Interact with menus, buttons, and other page elements while reviewing data.

  • Click individual elements to view their related metrics.

  • Continue analyzing your pages while our team investigates any underlying proxy issues.

Important Note

The extension only works on websites that have been properly installed and configured in Heatmap with an active subscription.

Analytics displaying session and revenue data will not work on random websites or pages that have not been connected to the Heatmap platform.
