For Telehealth appointments, we recommend you run the Heidi Desktop App on your computer at the same time as your Telehealth platform (eg. Zoom). The Desktop App has been built with Telehealth in mind, allowing you to work from your PC/Mac in calls, with or without headphones.
Here are 3 methods of using Heidi in Telehealth:
Telehealth with the Heidi Desktop App (or browser)
For Telehealth appointments on your computer, you can run the Heidi Desktop App or browser on half of your computer screen, and the other half for your Telehealth platform (eg. Zoom). This will allow you to monitor the microphone pick up throughout the session, minimize potential conflicts and make troubleshooting easier.
On Mac:
Launch the Heidi Desktop App or browser and Telehealth platform (eg. Zoom) on two separate windows. Hover over the green expand screen to "tile to right" then select the other window in the left.
On Windows:
Launch the Heidi Desktop App or browser and Telehealth platform (eg. Zoom) on two separate windows. Snap Heidi to one side by clicking the title bar of the Heidi Desktop App or browser, dragging it to the left or right edge of the screen, and releasing when a highlight appears. Click the other window in the available half-screen space to snap it into place on the opposite side.
Telehealth with your computer and Heidi on your mobile App
You can also open Heidi in your Mobile App or browser and place your mobile device beside your desk while playing your Telehealth consult out loud on your computer. This setup allows you to use Heidi for transcribing and note-taking without switching between tabs or windows on your desktop. Additionally, using Heidi on your mobile device can help reduce the strain on your computer, leading to better overall performance during your session.
Telehealth visits with headphones
The Heidi Desktop App supports headphones/earphones for TeleHealth consults. Run your consults as described above with your headphone plugged in, and Heidi will pick up both the patient's and your voice for the transcription.
If you are running Heidi on your browser, headphones are not supported so you'll have to run your session out loud and follow the instructions above.
