Creating a note before transcribing

Start by inputing text or uploading a file to context. The create button will appear in the top right. Click “Create” and select a template to generate a note or document.

Accepted files types:

  • .doc, .docx, .pdf, .png, .jpg

Unaccepted:

  • spreadsheets (csv, xml), .txt files

Adding a transcription

Press start transcribing to begin your session. Once you click stop, Heidi will enhance your notes with content from the transcript.

Managing Updates

Syncing context changes into the note

If you need to add additional context after creating your note, simply add the content to the context tab, then return to the note tab and press the “Sync changes” button to rewrite your note to include the new context.

Inline Dictation

Inline Dictation lets you dictate straight into the Context tab using the microphone icon in the top-right corner of the text area. Your words appear in the field in real time.

Two template options are available: Smart Dictation (structured output) and Word-for-Word (verbatim). To generate a separate dictated document from your captured input, press the + icon and select Smart Dictation.

💡 Note: Inline Dictation works inside a regular session. If you choose Session Dictation instead (by clicking the arrow on the green Transcribe button and selecting 'Dictate'), the Context tab is unavailable — Session Dictation captures your spoken words straight into a document with no context input.

💡 See Dictating in Heidi: which one are you using? for an overview of Heidi's dictation features.
