2. Browser-Based Use: Three Methods for Telehealth
If you’re using Heidi alongside your Telehealth platform in a browser, follow one of these configurations to optimise performance and minimise potential disruptions. If you are using Heidi in the browser, you will need to play audio outloud - these methods do not support the use of headphones.
Method 1: Use Separate Browsers for Heidi and Telehealth
Opening Heidi and your Telehealth platform in different browsers (e.g., Chrome for Heidi, Safari for Telehealth) can prevent performance conflicts and streamline troubleshooting.
Split-Window Setup on Mac:
Open Two Browser Windows: Launch your two browser windows (e.g., Chrome and Safari).
Use Mission Control: Swipe up with three fingers on the trackpad or press F3.
Snap Windows Side-by-Side: Drag one browser window to one side of the screen and select the other for the remaining space.
Split-Window Setup on Windows:
Open Two Browser Windows: Launch both browsers (e.g., Chrome and Edge).
Snap the Windows: Drag one window to the left or right side of the screen and release. Snap the other window in the opposite half.
Method 2: Use Heidi on Mobile to Record While Playing Consult Out Loud on Computer
You can also open Heidi in a mobile browser and place the device beside your computer, allowing it to record while you conduct your session on your PC. This setup keeps Heidi and your telehealth platform completely separate, reducing potential strain on your computer and helping ensure better overall performance.
Method 3: Using Heidi and Telehealth in the Same Browser
This method is the most unstable option, and not recommended, but if you prefer to run both Heidi and your teleconferencing platform in the same browser (e.g., both in Chrome), follow these guidelines to minimise potential issues:
Close Unnecessary Tabs: Free up browser memory by closing unneeded tabs.
Check Permissions: Ensure that both Heidi and your telehealth platform have appropriate permissions for microphone and camera access to avoid conflicts.
❗ Running both platforms in the same browser will increase the chance of audio failure.
3. Using Headphones with Heidi on Desktop App
The Heidi desktop app supports the use of headphones, if you are using headphones in your Telehealth call you should use the Heidi Desktop app.
