Multi-factor verification (MFV) enhances the security of your Heidi account by requiring an additional verification step beyond your password. This feature is available for all plan types and can be easily set up through your account settings.
Prerequisites for 2-Step Verification
Password: You must have a password set up for your Heidi account.
No Identity Provider: Your organization should not require login via an identity provider (such as Okta, Microsoft Azure, Google Workspace, etc.).
Setting Up Multi-Factor Verification
Open Settings:
Click on Settings & members in your sidebar.
Enable Multi-Factor Verification:
Under My account, toggle on multi-factor verification.
Choose Your Verification Method:
Select to enable multi-factor verification either via Code from authenticator or Text me a code.
Note: Depending on your region, you might only have the option to use an authenticator app.
Using an Authenticator App
Scan QR Code:
Open your chosen authenticator app and scan the QR code displayed on Heidi.
Name the authentication method for future reference.
Enter Code:
Enter the one-time code generated by your authenticator app to complete the setup.
Save Backup Codes:
If this is your first 2-step method, ensure you save your backup codes for future use.
Using Text Messaging
Add Phone Number:
Enter a phone number where you can receive text messages.
Enter Verification Code:
Input the code sent to your phone to complete the setup.
Save Backup Codes:
If this is your first multi-factor verification, make sure to save your backup codes.
Managing Verification Methods
Verification Limits: You can have up to four verification methods, including two authenticators and two phone numbers.
Change Verification Methods:
Click on Settings & members in your sidebar.
Under My account, click Change verification methods.
Verify your identity using an active multi-factor verification method.
Remove Multi-Factor Verification:
Hover over and click the β’β’β’ next to the active method you want to remove.
Click Delete and confirm your choice.
Add a Verification Method:
Click on Add authenticator or Add phone number.
Follow the instructions for setup as described above.
By setting up multi-factor verification, you are adding an extra layer of protection to your Heidi account, helping to keep both your personal and organisational data secure.
