If you have existing projects you've been tracking on Jira Cloud, you can import them as Height tasks from Settings β†’ Import β†’ Jira Cloud.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Only Jira Cloud project data can be imported currently, self-hosted Jira project imports are not yet supported.

Importing tasks from Jira

To get started, follow these steps:

  1. Connect to your Jira Cloud account, using the URL of your workspace, your email address used for your Jira account, and your Jira API token.

  2. Once connected, you'll be asked to select which Jira project you want to import issues from.

  3. Next, you'll either create a new Height list or pick an existing one to import your Jira issues into.

  4. Then you'll map attributes to make sure we import all the data you care about for your tasks. Any fields that don't get mapped to a Height attribute will not be imported, so be sure to set all the ones you care about.

  5. Lastly, you'll be asked to start the import. Once complete, you can click the list's link to access your imported list of Jira issues.

*NOTE: Once started, your Jira issues will begin importing in the background, so you can leave the page and they'll continue being imported. You can check the status of the import in Settings β†’ Import at any time.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Comments on Jira tickets will also be imported, allowing you to search for historical comments within Height and find the relevant task.

Re-importing updated tasks from Jira

Tasks that have been updated in Jira can easily be re-imported into an existing Height task using the same steps from above. Similarly, if you forgot to map certain attributes during the first import, re-importing will allow you to map the ones you missed.

After inputting a new Jira API token, select the project, enter the name of the existing list, map the attributes, and start the import.

Once complete, the existing Height list will be updated to match any updates made to the tasks in Jira.
