The Owner is a user in Franklin, usually the person who sets up the Franklin account, who has access to all data and functions in the app, including the ability to:

  • Add and remove Administrators

  • Pause and unpause the organization’s smart contracts

  • Transfer their Owner permissions to another worker

An Administrator is a user who manages the organization and its payroll in Franklin.

The Administrator has permission to:

  • Set up and execute payroll payments

  • Manage the organization’s treasury

  • Manage the organization’s worker records

  • Manage worker compensation

  • Manage the organization’s information

  • Manage benefits and deductions

  • Manage the organization’s subscription and other settings

A Worker is someone who is being paid through Franklin.

There are two kinds of Workers:

  • Employee

  • Contractor

In Franklin, when hiring a Contractor, you can choose between

  • U.S. Contractor that is an individual.

  • U.S. Contractor that is a legal entity.

  • International contractor.

U.S. employees and contractors can be paid in a mix of both cash and stablecoins.

International contractors can be paid in stablecoins or other ERC20 assets. To learn more about paying Workers, check out Payroll.

A Worker can be designated as an Administrator.
