How can I recycle the Ready Meal packaging?

We worked very hard to make it easy for you to recycle our packaging easily and properly.

  1. Peel off the thin inner layer from the cardboard

  2. Dispose of the cardboard into the cardboard recycling bin

  3. Dispose of the plastic layer into the plastic recycling bin

How sustainable is the packaging?

Did you know that with our HalopacksĀ® you only use 5 g of plastic per meal? Compared to 35g for takeaway food and 36g for a home-cooked meal.

Using sustainable packaging materials is a major objective for us as a company. Therefore, when selecting our packaging material, we always make sure that it is made of recycled material and is just as easy to recycle.

For instance, our menu trays are made of 100% recycled cardboard. This means that no new material is needed in circulation. In addition, our menu trays are very easy to recycle. The peelable thin inner layer can be easily separated from the cardboard, resulting in a renewable cardboard that meets the recycling requirements.

When it comes to the plastic we use, we make sure that most of it is made from recycled plastic (RPET). As a result, our salad cups are made from up to 80% recycled material, minimizing our impact on the environment.

However, in order to meet our high standards of the freshness and quality of our products, we cannot completely eliminate packaging materials. But be assured that we continuously try to improve and we always strive to use the most up-to-date packaging materials on the market.

What do you do about food waste?

Eliminating food waste is at the heart of sustainability. We hate wasting food, and that is why we constantly work on reducing it as much as we can with two main measures. For one, we use historical data and analysis to always improve the predictions of our sales order, so that we can minimize the number of excess dishes. And second, we donate all leftover food to regional Tafel groups or to AWO organizations in Berlin, as long as the dishes are still safe to eat.
