Concierge and Leasing Office

Use this article to get into the property and the unit when a staffed desk gives you access, whether that is a concierge or a leasing office.

Who this is for: Hosts and Cleaning Companies at a home where a concierge or leasing office gives you access.

What is concierge and leasing office access?

Both mean a staffed desk gives you what you need to get in. Depending on the home, the desk lets you into the building, gives you the key or fob for the unit, or both. Your access instructions in the Host App tell you which, and where the desk is, since the location varies by property.

The difference is when they are open:

  • A concierge desk is usually staffed 24 hours a day.

  • A leasing office is open limited hours, often around 9 to 5. Get there while it is open. If you arrive after it closes, you will not be able to collect the key.

How do I get in with a concierge or leasing office?

  1. Start the job in the Host App and tap "Access Instructions." This shows the desk location and what it gives you.

  2. Go to the desk and give your name. Have a photo ID ready, since some desks ask for one before releasing a key.

  3. Collect the key or fob. A fob often opens more than the unit door. It may also open the building entrance, the elevators, and the areas you need to reach to take out the trash.

  4. Use the key or fob to get into the building and the unit.

Returning the key

Return the key or fob to the desk when you leave.

If the desk will not release the key

Some desks need written authorization from Landing before they hand over a key.

  1. Let Landing know that the desk needs authorization, and say which home you are in.

  2. Ask the desk or the property for an email address Landing can send a key release email to. Give that email address to Landing. Landing usually has a property contact on file, but a direct address helps, and the authorization may need to go to a specific person.

If no one is at the desk

  1. Let Landing know that no one is there, and say which home you are in.

  2. Tell Landing whether the desk is unexpectedly empty or closed. For a concierge, someone should be there around the clock, so say if it is unstaffed. For a leasing office, check its opening hours first: if you arrived outside them, tell Landing that. This tells Landing how to get you in.
