Open Access

Use this article to get into the building when the property uses open access.

Who this is for: Hosts and Cleaning Companies at a property that uses open access.

What is open access?

Open access means the building or property entrance has no lock, app, fob, or code, so you can walk straight in. Open access only covers getting into the building. Getting into the unit is the part that needs a method: the home uses its own access method, such as a Latch smart lock, a KeyNest key, or a lockbox. Your access instructions in the Host App show which one.

How do I get in with open access?

  1. Check you are at the right property. Open the job in the Host App and check the address in the job information, then make sure you are at that building. Because the entrance is open, it is easy to walk into the wrong building, so confirm the address first.

  2. Walk into the building. The entrance is open, so there is nothing to unlock.

  3. Get into the home with its own access method. Your access instructions in the Host App show how the unit door is accessed. Follow that method to get into the home.

If the entrance is locked

If the entrance is not actually open, or you cannot get in:

  1. Check your access instructions in the Host App in case the entrance uses a code, fob, or app after all.

  2. If the entrance is still locked, let Landing know what is happening and say which home you are in.
