Property Provided Smart Lock

Use this article to get into the home when the property provides its own smart lock for the unit door.

Who this is for: Hosts and Cleaning Companies at a home where the property provides the lock or app.

What is a property provided smart lock?

Some properties run their own access system instead of Landing's. It can cover the building entrance, the unit door, or both. It is usually a keypad lock, and sometimes a phone app. The brand varies by property, so the exact steps and any code, app, or invite come from your access instructions in the Host App. Always follow those for your specific home.

Which property provided smart locks does this cover?

Your access instructions name the system for your home. These include SmartRent, Dwelo, PointCentral, Igloo, Stratis, iApartments, iQuue, RentCafe, Prempoint, Vivint, and 1Valet.

How do I get into the building with a property provided app?

Some properties run the building entrance with their own app or code too. Your access instructions tell you if the building uses the property system, and give you the code, app, or invite. Use it at the building entrance the same way you would the unit door:

  • A code: enter it on the keypad at the entrance, and press the confirm button if the keypad asks.

  • An app: open the app named in your access instructions and unlock the entrance through it.

  • An invite: open the invite, finish the setup, then unlock the entrance through the app.

Once you are into the building, get into the home with its access method below.

How do I get into the home with a property provided smart lock?

Start by opening the job in the Host App and tapping "Access Instructions." This tells you which method your home uses and gives you the code, app, or invite. Then follow the matching steps below.

If you were given a code:

  1. Enter the code on the keypad on the unit door.

  2. Confirm if the lock asks you to. Some locks unlock as soon as you enter the code. Others need you to press a confirm button, such as a checkmark or an unlock icon. Your access instructions say which.

If you need an app:

  1. Download or open the app named in your access instructions.

  2. Unlock the door through the app. This can take a few seconds.

If Landing sends an invite:

  1. Open the invite. This is usually a link sent by email, or a signup code to set up an account in the app.

  2. Finish the setup, then unlock the door through the app.

How do I lock up when I leave?

Locking up depends on the lock. Some lock when you press any button, some when you cover the keypad, and some lock on their own. Follow the locking step in your access instructions. If the home came with keys or fobs, return them where your access instructions say before you leave.

If you cannot get in

  1. Check you are at the right home and using the right code or app. Re-open the access instructions in the Host App and check the address and the details.

  2. If the code, app, or invite does not work, let Landing know what is happening and say which home or property you are in.
