Who this is for: Hosts and Cleaning Companies completing turnovers and installations on the Landing platform.
What goes on a Landing bed
A Landing bed is built from layered bedding items, each with its own code. The code letter shows the size, K for King and Q for Queen, and the code appears on the item tag.
The table below lists every Landing bedding item and whether it is washed at turnover:
Item | Code | Washed at turnover |
Mattress protector | K1 / Q1 | No |
Fitted sheet | K2 / Q2 | Yes |
Flat sheet | K3 / Q3 | Yes |
Cotton blanket | K4 / Q4 | Yes |
Down comforter | K5a / Q5a | No |
Duvet cover | K5b / Q5b | Yes |
Pillow, soft | K6a / Q6a | Yes |
Pillow protector, soft | K6b / Q6b | No |
Pillow case, soft | K6c / Q6c | Yes |
Pillow, medium | K7a / Q7a | Yes |
Pillow protector, medium | K7b / Q7b | No |
Pillow case, medium | K7c / Q7c | Yes |
The rule to remember is that all protectors and the down comforter stay on the bed and are never washed at turnover. Everything else is washed.
How to fit the mattress protector
The Landing mattress protector encases the whole mattress and stays on it permanently.
Encase the entire mattress within the mattress protector.
Close the zipper, then enclose the zipper within the velcro flap so it is fully covered.
At install, movers should be on site to help get the mattress protector onto the mattress.
Do not wash the mattress protector at turnover. If the mattress protector is missing, go to the assigned Landing Storage unit within the property to get one, if it is not in stock, open a chat with us and get a shopping job approved to get the protector.
How to fit the Landing fitted sheet
The Landing fitted sheet goes on directly over the mattress protector.
Identify the shortest sides of the fitted sheet. These align with the headboard and footboard sides of the mattress.
Find the tag on the fitted sheet, which marks the footboard side, and orient the sheet so the tag is at the foot of the bed.
Tuck all edges of the fitted sheet around and under the mattress so no corner is loose.

How to assemble the duvet cover and down comforter
Assemble the Landing duvet cover and down comforter together before placing them on the bed.
Step 1. Turn the duvet cover inside out.
Step 2. Match the corners of the down comforter to the corners of the duvet cover. Gather the volume of the duvet cover so the down comforter stays in place.
Step 3. Tuck the down comforter inside the duvet cover, then pull the cover out to bring it right side out. Shake the two layers to straighten them into place.
Step 4. Place the assembled duvet on the bed, folded at the top of the bed just below the folded flat sheet. Flatten it out with your hand so the fold is even, and let the duvet overflow at the foot of the bed to make a triangular fold.
Do not wash the down comforter at turnover. Spot clean the down comforter only.
How to make up the Landing pillows
Every Landing bed has four pillows, two medium and two soft. Each pillow goes inside a pillow protector, then inside a pillow case.
Step 1. Take a pillow protector, open the zipper, and insert the tag side of the pillow into the protector. Tuck all corners in correctly and zip the protector closed.
Step 2. Slide the pillow into the pillow case. The Landing pillow case has a longer than usual open side.
Step 3. Fold the excess pillow case over to make a crease.
Step 4. Tuck one flap of the open ended pillow case between the pillow and the case.
Step 5. Pull up the two pointed flaps like an envelope and tuck them in as well, creating a neat fold. Repeat steps 1 to 5 for all four pillows.
Step 6. Stack the finished pillows against the headboard with their tucked in flap sides facing the inside of the bed, not facing out toward the sides of the bed.
Place the two medium pillows at the back, against the headboard, and the two soft pillows in front of them.
Decorative pillows
Two decorative pillows finish the bed. They sit in front of the four bed pillows and are the last thing you place.
Step 1. Hold each decorative pillow by two opposite corners and push the corners toward each other a few times so the filling loosens and spreads.
Step 2. Hold the pillow by the top edge and give it a firm shake so the filling settles evenly.
Step 3. Press the centre of the pillow lightly with the flat of your hand to give it a soft dip in the middle.
Step 4. Stand the decorative pillows upright in front of the two soft pillows, leaning back against them so they hold their shape.
A decorative pillow that has not been fluffed will look flat and creased, so do not skip this. Fluff both pillows before you place them, not after.
